Junior Department Information

General Information

There is a member of staff on duty from 8.45am at the main gate.

School bell rings promptly at 8.55am so that registration can take place at 9 o'clock.

If you wish to make personal contact with any teacher then please come into the classroom before school begins or see the teacher at the end of the school day.

Reading

Reading takes place in school on a daily basis, but we also expect you to listen to your child reading at home regularly, and we would be grateful if you could make a note of this in your child's reading record book.

Homework

Homework is distributed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Homework is an extension of class activities, so it is expected that your child completes all homework consistently.

Spelling Book  - The spelling book should be brought in every Monday and Friday. Words are given out on a Monday and the test is carried out on a Friday.

Please sign your children's homework and spelling book after the children have completed a task at home so that the teacher knows that you have seen the completed work. Thank you.

P. E. (school P.E. t-shirt with navy or black shorts/tracksuit)

Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 every Friday

Shop

There is a fruit shop available on a daily basis which is run by the school council. All purchases 20p.

Going Away

Tedi Teithio (the travelling bear) enjoys going on holidays with pupils. Take plenty of photos so that we have a record of Tedi Teithio's wonderful travels. See a teacher if you are interested.

Birthday Cakes

Children are welcome to bring in a birthday cake to celebrate their birthdays and to share with their class friends (shop bought please).

Communication

We will be trying to reduce paper usage by reducing the amount of letters we send out. All information regarding class/school activities and upcoming events are updated regularly on the school website. Please check the website regularly for this information. Please contact the school if you do not have  access to the internet so that we can make sure that you receive the necessary information. We are also on Twitter; follow @ysgolpumheol.

The school website is updated regularly: www.ysgolpumheol.co.uk

Thank you.
